Snare – New players begin their drum training using a practice pad and regular snare drum sticks. Students are required to supply their own pad and sticks. Training on the pad typically lasts around a year while basic music skills, reading music, and drumming technique are learned.

Tenor – New players begin their training using tenor sticks.  Students are required to supply their own sticks.

Beginner lessons are given by professional level instructors.  Lesson times may vary subject to the instructor’s availability.  Snare lessons tend to be every Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 while Tenor is every second week.

Additional private lessons with instruction from band members, can also be arranged. Fees for these lessons may apply and are solely a matter between the student and the instructor.

Once a student has achieved the required skills, they will be invited to join the band on Wednesday evenings from 8:00 to 9:00 for band practice and ensemble playing.  The band also practices Sundays from 12:00 to 2:00.

Snare drums are provided on loan by the band for players who have completed their beginner training and have been invited to join the band.
